Sundance Canyon eBike & Hike — Banff Bow River Guided Tour
Combine effortless e-bike cruising along the Bow River with a short, guided hike up Sundance Canyon. This three-hour half-day tour mixes Banff history, canyon geology, and a dose of riverfront scenery—ideal for families and first-time riders.
The Experience
Before You Go
Wear closed-toe shoes
The canyon trail has rocky steps and wet sections—sturdy trail shoes improve grip and comfort.
Bring at least 1 L of water
E-biking plus a canyon hike in mountain air dehydrates quickly, especially on sunny days.
Layer for sudden weather
Mountain conditions change quickly; pack a light waterproof and an insulating mid-layer.
Be honest about bike comfort
Guides require riders to be comfortable on a bike—choose this tour only if you can balance and control a standard e-bike.
Local Knowledge
Hidden Gems
- •Early-morning mist on the Bow River upstream from the bike path—often quiet and photogenic
- •Small pools upstream of the canyon where trout sometimes feed near the banks (look from a distance)
Wildlife
- •American black bear
- •Mule deer
Conservation Note
Stay on marked trails to protect fragile alpine vegetation; local operators limit group sizes to reduce trail erosion and disturbance.
The Cave and Basin area near the route is the birthplace of Canada’s national parks system; the discovery of thermal springs in the 1880s catalyzed Banff’s establishment.
Photographer's Notes
