Ride Electric Motorbikes Through Joshua Tree National Park

Ride Electric Motorbikes Through Joshua Tree National Park

Swap engine noise for a quiet electric hum and explore Joshua Tree’s carved boulder landscapes on a guided UBCO 2x2 tour. This small-group ride mixes off-pavement routes, local history, and hands-on coaching in a 2.5-hour loop from Hidden Valley.

The Experience

Before You Go

Hydrate before and during the ride

Bring a filled water bottle or hydration bladder—the guide provides water, but desert sun and wind dehydrate faster than you expect.

Wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes

Traction and ankle protection matter on loose dirt and rocky shoulders; no sandals or soft-soled shoes.

Arrive early to sign waivers and get briefed

Meeting point is Hidden Valley Trailhead parking; give yourself 15–20 minutes to park and prepare so the group can leave on time.

Sun protection is non-negotiable

High SPF sunscreen, sunglasses with side protection, and a brimmed cap under the helmet will keep sun fatigue and glare at bay.

Local Knowledge

Hidden Gems

  • Stop at a quiet pullout east of Hidden Valley to watch rock climbers setting routes on lesser-used boulder faces
  • A short detour to Cap Rock offers classic low-angle views and fewer crowds in the late afternoon

Wildlife

  • coyote
  • desert collared lizard

Conservation Note

Riders are encouraged to stay on designated roads, pack out all trash, and follow park rules to reduce erosion and protect sensitive desert cryptobiotic soil.

The park’s iconic spiky trees are named after Joshua from the Mojave Desert tribes and were later traversed by miners and homesteaders; the park preserves both geological and cultural traces.

How old or tall do I need to be to ride?

Riders must be at least 21 years old and approximately 5'3" or taller to sit on the saddle and reach the ground safely.

Is prior off-road experience required?

Basic two-wheel experience is recommended; the guide will coach beginners, but comfort with balance and throttle control makes the trip more enjoyable.

What happens in bad weather?

Tours are cancellable for full refund at least 24 hours prior and may be canceled by the operator if weather makes routes unsafe.

Are helmets and protective gear provided?
