The Experience

Before You Go

Arrive Early to Board Smoothly

Meet 10 minutes before departure in front of Viche at Marina Cortez to complete a quick safety briefing and secure your spot on deck.

Wear Non‑Slip Shoes

Decks can be wet and slippery; flat, rubber-soled shoes improve traction and comfort while moving about the boat.

Layer for Wind

Even on warm days the bay breeze can be sharp—bring a light windbreaker for late-afternoon sails.

Respect Wildlife and Harbor Rules

Keep distance from seals and dolphins and follow crew guidance near shipping lanes and naval areas to minimize disturbance.

Local Knowledge

Hidden Gems

  • Slip under the Coronado Bridge at mid-tide for dramatic architectural perspective
  • Slow past Harbor Island’s less-trafficked side for skyline photos away from ferries

Wildlife

  • California sea lions
  • Common dolphins

Conservation Note

San Diego Bay contains marine protected areas and busy commercial traffic; minimize waste, use refillable containers, and follow crew instructions to reduce impact.

The bay was first charted by Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo in 1542 and later developed into a major naval hub—those layers of maritime history remain visible from the water.
