Grand Teton Night Photography Workshop: Capture the Milky Way Over the Tetons
Head into Grand Teton National Park after dark with a pro photographer to learn long-exposure technique, composition, and how to put the Milky Way over the Tetons. This private, four-hour workshop blends hands-on instruction with carefully chosen viewpoints away from light pollution.
The Experience
Before You Go
Bring a reliable tripod
Long exposures demand stability—use a sturdy tripod and a remote shutter or camera timer to avoid blur.
Dress in thermal layers
Alpine nights can be much colder than the valley; pack insulated layers and a windproof shell.
Use a red headlamp
Red light preserves night vision and won’t blow out exposures when you need to check settings.
Charge batteries and bring spares
Long exposures and cold drains batteries quickly—carry at least one spare battery per camera.

Conservation Note
Light pollution is a concern—stick to established pullouts, minimize artificial light, and follow Leave No Trace practices to protect nocturnal wildlife.
The Tetons rose along a major fault during the last 9 million years; the park protects a landscape long-used by Shoshone peoples and later conservationists.
