The Experience

Before You Go

Wear sturdy closed-toe shoes

Tennis shoes or light hiking shoes keep feet protected for zip lines and horseback; sandals aren’t recommended for canopy platforms.

Bring a swimsuit and quick-change

You’ll use mud baths, saunas and hot pools after the activities; pack a dry change of clothes and a towel (provided, but bring extras if you want).

Apply insect repellent before arrival

The humid tropical forest hosts mosquitoes; repellant and long sleeves at dawn/dusk reduce bites.

Carry extra hydration

Two bottles are included but hot, active days call for more — bring a refillable bottle to top off between activities.

Local Knowledge

Hidden Gems

Conservation Note

The area is sensitive: stick to marked paths, avoid disturbing wildlife, and support operators that follow park and waste-management practices to protect hot springs and forest.

Rincón de la Vieja is a volcanic complex with geothermal features long used by local communities; the surrounding Guanacaste region has a ranching and agricultural heritage that shapes local culture.
