Beginner Rock Climbing in Joshua Tree National Park — Half-Day Guide
Get vertical on Joshua Tree’s famous granite with a half-day beginner group climb led by Mojave Guides. Learn knots, belaying, and route-finding while standing on 100-foot faces—with all safety gear provided.
The Experience
Before You Go
Bring 2–3 liters of water
Desert conditions and exertion mean you’ll dehydrate faster than you expect—hydrate before you arrive and carry extra water.
Wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes
Climbing shoes are optional if provided, but wear supportive closed-toe footwear to approach routes and scramble over boulders.
Sun protection is mandatory
Wide-brim hat, high-SPF sunscreen, and UV sunglasses protect against reflected glare off granite.
Arrive early and follow the guide
Meet at the Visitor Center parking lot and follow the guide’s vehicle into the park—drivers enter in their own car per company policy.
