Banff Day Tour from Calgary: Frozen Waterfalls, Lake Minnewanka & Johnston Canyon
See the Canadian Rockies in one efficient, unforgettable day: from the glassy expanse of Lake Minnewanka to frozen cascades in Johnston Canyon. This guided tour includes transport, park entry, and complimentary crampons for icy sections.
The Experience
Before You Go
Wear traction-ready boots
Even with supplied crampons, waterproof boots with good ankle support make Johnston Canyon and snow-swept paths far safer and more comfortable.
Layer for temperature swings
Morning drives and canyon shade can be much colder than sunny lake stops—bring a warm midlayer and a windproof shell.
Carry a small daypack
Pack water, snacks, camera, and identification—parking isn’t provided at the meeting point and stops are brief.
Be wildlife-wise
Keep distance from elk and bighorn sheep; do not feed animals and follow guide instructions during roadside sightings.
